Easy Sufganiyot

Aka jelly doughnuts. Traditionally eaten during the Jewish festival of Hanukkah. A dep fried doughnut, filled with jelly and topped with powdered sugar.

Today we are making an easy version using store bought accidentally vegan biscuits. Pillsbury's accidentally vegan biscuit range includes the Southern Homestyle Original, Flaky Layers Sweet Hawaiian, and the Southern Homestyle Buttermilk

Ingredients

1 can of Pillsbury Southern Homestyle Original Biscuits

Vegetable Oil for frying

Jelly of choice, in a squeeze bottle. I use these

Vegan friendly Powdered Sugar

Directions

Heat your oil in pot, roughly 1 inch deep, over medium heat

Roll out each biscuit dough a little

Place into hot oil

Cook for 2-3 minutes until golden

Flip and cook for an additional 2 minutes until golden

Remove and drain on paper towel

Let cool to touch

Using your squeeze bottle tip press into the top of your doughnut*

Squeeze jelly inside moving the doughnut around to make sure jelly gets fully inside

Repeat with remaining doughnuts

Sprinkle generously with powdered sugar

Serve immediately

*If you don't have a squeeze bottle you can fill a piping bag or even zip lock bag. Fill bag with jelly and cut tip from corner of bag. Use something sharp to make a hole in the doughnut and squeeze jelly inside.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this recipe! So easy and delicious. I had no idea about this brand of biscuits being vegan! My family loves Sufganiyot and this was a snap to make. Hanukkah Sameach!
