Welcome to the fanciest 'steakhouse', where no animals were harmed in the making!
Ingredients:
3 red onions, sliced thin
3-4 tbls earth balance butter
1-2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tbl of flour
1 beefless cube
2 cups water
1 tbl tomato paste
Small pour of red wine
1 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 packages of Gardein beefless tips, thawed
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350
In a large frying pan add your onion slices and 2 tbl of butter
Heat over medium-high heat
Cook for 20-25 minutes until caramelized
(Add a little more butter if needed)
Halfway through season with salt and sugar
Once caramelized stir in flour
Mix well
Add in tomato paste
Mix well
Mix your beefless cube with 2 warm cups of water
Slowly pour in your beefless mixture
Add in your red wine vinegar and splash of red wine
Bring to a boil
Turn down heat to simmer to keep warm
Using your hands mash and mold together 4-5 thawed beefless tips
Form into a filet shape
Melt a little butter in frying pan over medium-high heat
When hot pan fry filets on each side for 2-3 minutes until browned
Continue with remaining filets
Place on a greased cookie sheet
Bake in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes
Turn halfway through
Remove from oven and serve with caramelized onion gravy!
Top with chives or green onions.
