This is the tasty creation that happened when I gathered whatever I had left in the fridge before grocery day. The flavors come together so nicely and each bite melts in your mouth!
Ingredients:
1extra large or 2 regular onions sliced
1 Field Roast Smoked Tomato quarter loaf
4-5 tablespoons of earth balance butter
1 beefless cube
1/2 cup water
Pinch of salt and pepper
2 Large Crescent Rolls
Follow Your Heart Provolone Slices
Cooking Spray
Directions:
In a large frying pan melt 3 tablespoons of butter over medium high heat
Add in your onions
Continue to cook over medium heat until caramelized, turning often
When onion is caramelized add in your crumbled quarter loaf and remaining butter
Stir well
Allow to cook for 3-5 minutes
Add in your beefless cube and water
Continue to cook until water is evaporated
Season with salt and pepper
Prepare your sandwiches
Combine two triangles crescents to form a rectangle, pinch edges together
Continue with triangles to create rectangles
Heat your waffle maker
Spray with cooking spray
Place your rectangles down on two squares
Top with a generous amount of onion mix
Top with cheese, followed by top rectangles
(One batch should have a total of two rectangles on bottom, two rectangles on top.
Close waffle maker and cook until golden, roughly 5 minutes
Remove from waffle maker
Cut in half or cut into strips as seen in the photo below
Serve immediately
