What a tasty and unique way to enjoy a burger!
(Makes 4 burgers, there will be extra teriyaki sauce which you will be happy about!)
Ingredients:
2 packages of Sweet Earth Teriyaki Burgers
Butter Lettuce Leaves
1 red bell pepper, sliced thin
2-3 orange habanero peppers, sliced thin SEEDS REMOVED*
1 tbl of sugar
1/3 cup of rice wine vinegar
Soy Sauce
Oil
Cilantro, roughly chopped
6 cups of cooked sushi rice
Teriyaki Sauce, recipe below
*Skip the peppers if you don't like it spicy
Directions:
Add a little oil and sliced habaneros to a pan
Cook for roughly 8- 10 minutes over medium
Stir in your bell pepper
Cook for 2-3 minutes
In a small bowl stir together 1 tbl of sugar and 1/3 cup of vinegar
Add your cooked pepper to vinegar
Allow to sit for 20 minutes
Remove from liquid
Preheat oven to 375*
Coat each burger with teriyaki sauce
Place on greased sheet and bake for 10 minutes
Flipping halfway through
Add roughly 2 tbl of soy sauce to cooked sushi rice
Mix well
Using wet cold hands grab roughly ½ cup of rice
Form into Buns, pressing hard to make rice bond together well
Continue with remaining rice until you have 4 complete buns
(4 top buns and 4 bottom buns)
You will have to continuously wet hands so rice doesn’t stick
Heat a little oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat
When oil is hot add in 1-2 buns
Fry on each side for 2-3 minutes
Remove from heat and repeat
Create your burgers
Coat top of bottom bun with teriyaki sauce
Add a few pieces of lettuce
Top with cooked burger
Add additional teriyaki
Top with peppers (use less orange if you don’t want it spicy)
Top with cilantro followed by top bun
At this stage you can wrap in paper or foil to keep together if you want

*patties can be cooked on grill as well
Teriyaki Sauce:
2-3 tbl of cornstarch
1/3 cup of cold water
½ cup of soy sauce
1 cup of water
1/3 cup brown sugar
1-2 tbl of sugar
1 tsp of garlic powder
1 tsp of ground ginger
Teriyaki Sauce:
Combine the first 2 ingredients
Mix well, set aside
Combine remaining ingredients into medium sauce pan
Heat over medium-high heat
Bring to a boil
Reduce heat to simmer
Stir in cornstarch slaw
Continue to cook over simmer, stirring often
Cook until thickened
