Sometimes a dish comes around that’s too good to be true…..
Ingredients:
Pizza Dough of choice
FYH Vegan Smoke Gouda Cheese slices
1 cup chopped cherry tomatoes
1 large yellow onion
4 tablespoons of Vegan butter
2 heads of Maitake Mushrooms, roughly chopped
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 teaspoon of paprika
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon of salt
Sauce ingredients:
2 tbl of vegan butter
2 tbl of flour
½-1 cup of almond milk
¼ cup of nutritional yeast
Garlic salt
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400
Toss your mushrooms with olive oil, salt and paprika
Place onto cookie sheet and bake 20-25 minutes
Drizzle with 1 tbl of melted butter the last 10 minutes
Remove when roasted and set aside
In a medium sauce pan add 2 tbl of butter and onion
Sauté over medium heat for 30 minutes
Continue cooking until caramelized, turning often
Sprinkle with sugar and salt the last 10 minutes
Remove from pan and set aside
Using same pan make your sauce
Add in 2 tbl of vegan butter
Once melted whisk in your flour
When thickened slowly pour in your milk
Add in nutritional yeast and salt
Cook until desired consistency is met
Adding in more milk as needed
Turn off heat
Preheat oven to dough directions.
Roll out your dough
Place onto pizza pan sprinkled with cornmeal
Place dough onto pan
Spread with your cream sauce
Top with cheese slices
Add your mushrooms, onions and tomatoes
Brush crust with 1 tablespoon melted butter
Bake in preheated oven according to dough directions
Or until cheese is melted
