Ohhhh myyyyy goooooooodness! The Southern in me was always obsessed with chicken and waffles!!! Can't believe I can still enjoy this amazingly ridiculously tasty dish as a Vegan!
Ingredients:
Gardein Turk'y cutlets
Oil for frying
Syrup for serving
Dry mix Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped finely
1/4 teaspoon ground sage
1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt and pepper
Wet mix ingredients:
1 cup rice milk
1 tablespoon earth balance butter melted
1 Follow Your Heart Egg
Waffle Ingredients:
2 cups bisquick
1/4 cup Vegan bacon bits
1 1/3 cup of rice milk
2 tablespoons of oil
1 Follow Your Heart Egg prepared
Directions:
Cook your cutlets according to directions
Allow to cool
Combine your chicken wet ingredients, mix well
Combine your dry ingredients, mix well
Dip your cutlet into the wet mix followed by the dry mix
Make sure to fully coat in each mix, pressing down in the dry mix
Continue with each cutlet
Allow them to sit for 10 minutes
Heat your oil in sauce pan, enough oil to drench each cutlet
Place each cutlet one by one into oil
Frying for 5 minutes turning once, until golden brown and crispy
Remove and drain on a paper towel
Continue with remaining cutlets
Prepare your waffles:
Mix all ingredients into a large bowl, add more milk if too thick
Heat your waffle make
Pour batter into make and cook until done*
Carefully remove and repeat with remaining batter
Plate your waffle topped with a fried cutlet
Drizzle with a generous amount of syrup
Serve and Enjoy!
*Each waffle make varies, mine is old school non electric. Took about 3-5 minute on each side
